Most internet users have a Facebook account and are still actively using it today.
But sometimes for some reason, users want to temporarily stop using Facebook or they can also want to delete their account forever.

How to permanently delete Facebook account
Once your account is deleted, you won’t be able to recover any data that was added.
Here’s how to permanently delete a Facebook account:
- From your main profile, click Account in the top right of Facebook.
- Select Settings & Privacy, then click Settings.
- Click Your Facebook Information in the left column. If you have Facebook access to a page with the new Pages experience: Click Privacy, then click Your Facebook Information.
- Click Deactivation and Removal.
- Select Delete Account, then click Proceed to Account Deletion.
- Click Delete Account, enter your password, then click Continue.
If it’s been less than 30 days since you deleted your account, you can still undo the account deletion.
After 30 days, your account and all information on it will be permanently deleted and you will no longer be able to retrieve this information.
It may take up to 90 days to delete all of your posts from the start of the deletion process.
To undelete your account, you can log into your Facebook account within 30 days of deleting your account. Click undelete.
How to temporarily delete Facebook account
You can temporarily deactivate your account. Here’s how:
- From your main profile, click Account in the top right of Facebook.
- Select Settings & Privacy, then click Settings.
- Click Your Facebook Information in the left column. If you have Facebook access to a page with the new Pages experience: Click Privacy, then click Your Facebook Information.
- Click Deactivation and Removal.
- Select Deactivate Account, then click Proceed to Account Deactivation and follow the prompts to confirm.
What happens when a Facebook account is deactivated:
- No one can see your profile.
- Some information, such as messages you sent to friends, may still be visible.
- Your friend may still be able to see your name in their friends list. Your name is visible only to your friends and only from their friends list.
- Group admins can still see your posts and comments, along with your name.
- You will not be able to use your Facebook account to access your Oculus products or Oculus information.
- Pages that are only your admin will also be disabled. If your Page is disabled, other people won’t be able to see or find your Page if they search for it. If you don’t want your Page to be deactivated, you can give someone else full control of the Page. After that, you can deactivate your account without deactivating the Page.
- Note that Messenger will remain active if you choose to keep Messenger active or logged into Messenger when you deactivate your Facebook account.
- You can still chat with your friends on Messenger.
- Your Facebook profile photo is still visible in conversations on Messenger.
- Other people can look for you to send messages.
